Within the first hour of launching on the crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter, we reached our initial funding goal for Event Horizon: Stories of No Turning Back. We are so grateful for this early enthusiasm that has us going over 8K strong, still with 20 days to go. This 240 page full color genre-bending book that combines prose, comics, canvas work and photography is a grand undertaking, and this “kickstart” certainly gives us that needed push for full publication. Do check out our campaign and consider joining us, whether the book excites your interest, you’re a fan of the array of artists in here, or supporting independent artists and presses is a meaningful endeavor for you. We are live until May 10th: every pledge counts. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theninagalaxy/event-horizon-stories-of-no-turning-back

Surprise! Cover Variants for Event Horizon!!
In addition to our lead cover by Karen S. Darboe, in the spirit of multiverses, parallel universes and comic book culture: we have two additional cover variants to make three versions of hardcover by an electric team of artists, each offering something special! Some are limited prints, and Kickstarter backers have exclusive access to grab them first.

Our main Karen S. Darboe cover is hardcover with foil stamping to accentuate the yellow-gold hued drip lines of being “spaghettified” by a black hole and their luminous accretion disks that swirl around them.

The Armando Ramirez-Galen Ihlenfeldt hardcover offers blue and white electrified customized endpapers in both print & digital.

The BLUSTERONE hardcover is a limited print run of 100, featuring art from original commissioned canvas work (30” X 20” ACRYLIC AND BLACK GESSO ON CANVAS) printed on textured paper for the feel of a canvas work. The style-writing GoodStrange vibe of the canvas art of this unconventional cover paired with its texture makes this the artists’ book of the Event Horizon collection.

So you can like it like that, and that and that.

Thanks to our book designer Aaron Guzman who is responsible for these digital mockups.

Almost one month away from our Kickstarter campaign on 4/9/2024 and we’re so excited about sharing the trailers we have for Event Horizon: Stories of No Turning Back!  Our story-driven trailer is meant to excite readers with curiosity, with a narration of prose layered over comics in the collection that come together in story-unity. Are we in somebody’s living room? Are we by the Mediterranean sea? Is this even Earth?! Goodness, is it space? It’s all of there and that. Ah, the joys of singularities.

Are you making a movie?

Our friends and circles ask us this question, understandably, because maybe book trailers aren’t so common, or specifically trailers that utilize comic work and illustrations in such an animated way.  We aren’t selling you a movie: you are being teased to read a book (a very good book), and so here is our concept-driven video that walks you through exactly what this genre and medium bending book is all about. The who’s and how’s.

At long last, the delight of sharing our lead cover for Event Horizon: Stories of No Turning Back. Karen S. Darboe’s cover captures so much of the female voice, Stephanie’s voice, in this book.

We hope you join us for an April 9th Kickstarter launch–the crowdfunding that will spark Even Horizon into the world, with exclusives to early backers. It’s a bit away for you (not for us organizing it), but we still have lots of fun things to share as we jump to the next black hole in our journey. Read more about this collection.

Pre-register to be notified of our launch in April and you get free stickers with stunning art with your pledge. https://januspointpress.com/eventhorizon/

We’re doing a cover reveal for Event Horizon: Stories of No Turning Back! In true Janus fashion, it’s happening in the future, but we in the past are trying to catch up to it. The cover is making its debut at an upcoming event Stephanie is a panelist on with the non-profit Latina Surge. While it begins to circulate in social media our Instagram page is doing a striptease of its own with it on our spacetime grid there. How can you play along?

  1. Visit our Event Horizon sign up page, now live on Janus Point Press! Enter to be notified of our crowdfunding Kickstarter launch for some book swag. Anyone who pre-registers gets additional free stickers of Event Horizon’s stunning art with their Kickstarter campaign pledge.
  2. First astronaut to spot the cover of Event Horizon on social media (tag us on IG @januspoint.press or via Stephanie on multiple platforms as @ TheNinaGalaxy) gets a free book cover poster by Karen S. Darboe. Next lucky two winners get some stickers.

Happy space hunting. Watch out for black holes (close cousin to, if not the same thing as, wormholes).
